Why I guide Growing up fishing almost every day was a thrill. I couldn't wait to get home from school and hit the water. It was always about that next tug and how I was able to do it. As years went by and I made new friends they started fishing with me. I had so much fun helping them make the cast and watching them hook into some of these fish than I did doing it myself. I can sneak up on fish and I know how they are going to act most of the time. Their is something about the challenge of working with someone and I didn't have control of the cast or how the lure is worked that is more exciting than me doing it alone. Today I enjoy helping people do what I've been doing all my life. There's just something about pointing fish out to people and helping them get the hookup I can't get enough of. Years ago fishing was about survival. Today fishing is about bounding and bragging. Fishing is about spending time with friends and loved ones. It's about being a part on nature and experiencing it first hand. It's about the thrill of teasing a fish and the scream of the drag. It's about making memories. I feel privileged to be able to help make some of those memories and share some of the tricks I have learned to do it. Every year I have a number of people come to me asking advice on getting started guiding. I ask everyone the same question. Why do you want to guide? Most say it's because they love to fish. I tell them all they are going to have a hard time in this business. It's not about how much you love to fish as it is how much you love to help your clients catch fish.
